Technology: Lest we forget how far we have come in less than three decades

"Long before anyone had heard of the Internet, early home computer users could read their morning newspapers online ... sort of," says Steve Newman, whose 1981 story about the prospect of doing just that was broadcast on KRON San Francisco.

And do take note of the connection: via dial phone + acoustic coupler modem. (I'm so old, I actually remember using those!)

Oh my god ! Technology in the 80's !

I remember my dad bringing a huge dot matrix printer and a cpu home one day and connecting a box to the television.
Then he computed on it.

Oh yes we couldn't watch TV when he was on it - that's why I remember it most !

Thanks for posting this !

Good story, Jaffer. I guess we all have our memories of the early days of computer technology. What amazes me is realizing how far we've all come in a relatively short space of time.
